WVUPros on the Hardwood Report: Mountaineers ring in the New Year around the globe

This week we look at the various Mountaineers in action over New Year’s, starting with Devin Ebanks asserting himself and becoming a leader on his new team in Mexico.

Devin Ebanks – The Mountaineer swingman is making the most of his time since joining the Veracruz Redhawks (Mexico) last month. On Tuesday, Ebanks led the team with 23 points to go along with 7 rebounds in a 103-94 win over Huracanes.

In his nine games with the club, he leads the team in scoring (20.1) and rebounding (7.8) per game. The Redhawks are now 21-3 and have a comfortable lead in the standings.

Da’Sean Butler – Chalon Reims (France) has dropped their last two contests, most recently on Tuesday to Nanterre 83-80 to drop to 6-10 on the season. Butler had a double-double in the game with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

John Flowers – After winning the league championship last season, JL Bourg (France) has only managed two wins in sixteen games this season and have lost twelve in a row. Facing a two-week winter break, Flowers and Bourg fell to Pau-Lacq-Orthez decidedly 77-64 on Monday. Flowers led the way for Bourg with 17 points, 10 rebounds and blocked three shots. The team resumes play on January 17th when Flowers goes against Da’Sean Butler and Chalon Reims.

Deniz Kilicli – Anadolu Efes (Turkey) took over the top spot in the TBL standings with a win over Fener-Ulker on the 28th. Kilicli played six minutes and scored two points.

Darryl Truck Bryant – BK Kolin (Czech Republic) lost 88-72 on Tuesday night to NH Ostrava. Bryant had 10 points in the game. Kolin has now lost six of their last seven games.

Dan Jennings – Jefes (Mexico) took down Gigantes 96-89. Jennings had 12 points and 6 rebounds for Jefes.
